Have you chosen a new perfume, but it turns out that its divine scent, which seduced you so much, dissipates after a short time? Maybe you just chose the wrong type of product! In the world of perfumes, there is a practical marking that clearly defines whether we will enjoy the aroma for long hours or just a couple of moments...
Perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, cologne... These are names that most people are familiar with, but do you really understand what they mean? This classification indicates the proportion of perfume composition in a perfume, i.e. the amount of fragrances in the alcohol. This describes the strength of a particular perfume - how long it lasts.
How to choose a perfume that lasts a long time?
Finally, you have chosen a scent that captivates you, so you would like to enjoy it for as long as possible? Before buying a product, it is worth carefully examining the packaging. It is on it that it is indicated what type of perfume you are holding in your hands! The strength of the scent, that is, how long it will be smelled, is determined by the concentration of fragrant particles in the spirit - alcohol.
Perfume is made up of three main ingredients: water, alcohol, and fragrance. The ratio of these ingredients determines the strength of the perfume, and thus its price. Perfumes with the highest concentration of fragrances are the most expensive!
Alcohol plays an important role in perfumes – it helps the aroma to be absorbed into the skin and spread in the environment. By the way, it is the contact of alcohol with the skin that determines the fact that each perfume used by different people emits a different smell. This happens because each of us has our own specific musk – a smell that other fragrances can only slightly affect.
Abbreviations EDC, EDT and others – what do they mean?
The amount of fragrances in a perfume determines the type of perfume we get. This is also reflected in its price. Perfumes are divided into 5 main groups:
Eau Fraîche or body mist – less than 3% fragrance
Eau de Cologne or cologne (EDC) – 3-5% fragrance
Eau de Toilette or eau de toilette (EDT) – up to 8% fragrance
Eau de Parfum or eau de parfum (eau de parfum) – (EDP) – from 8 to 15% fragrance
Parfum or perfume (P) – as much as 30% fragrances
The products with the lowest concentration of fragrances are labeled “ Eau Fraîche ” (body mist). They usually contain less than 3% fragrance. These are very mild scents, ideal for going outdoors or staying at home. They give a feeling of freshness, but don’t expect a long-lasting scent. These products are usually quite inexpensive.
Perfumes with 3 to 5% fragrance are labeled EDC - this is Eau de Cologne, or cologne. And in this case, it will be a lighter perfume that will not last long, so it is best to reapply after a few hours.
"Eau de Toilette" , also known as EDT due to its higher concentration of fragrances, is already considered a fairly high-quality product. Yes, it's the same well-known "eau de toilette", containing as much as 8% fragrances. Ideal perfume for everyday use - smells good, but not too intense.
Quality, long-lasting scent and great price: EDP or eau de parfum
If you are looking for a longer-lasting perfume, choose a product marked EDP – “ Eau de Parfum ”, which has a fragrance concentration of 8 to 15%. EDP is also known as “fragrant water”. It will be enough to apply it once a day to enjoy a pleasant fragrance for a long time.
Eau de parfum is the most popular of all types of perfume. Guaranteed quality at an affordable price.
Parfum (perfume) – the king of perfumes
The last type of perfume is marked with the letter P, or "parfum"! This type of perfume is suitable for special, formal occasions, where an intense and charming aroma will surely unfold, making you simply impossible to miss!
The concentration of fragrances here reaches as much as 30%! As a result, a small drop of perfume is quite enough. This product is guaranteed to give a feeling of exclusivity. However, it is also the most expensive of all the types mentioned.
Be sure to try scented (perfumed) cosmetics too!
Thanks to scented (perfumed) cosmetics, perfumes last longer and their aroma intensifies!
Many brands also offer scented (perfumed) cosmetics, such as deodorants, body lotions, shower gels, and even bath accessories...
These products enhance the aroma of your perfume even more!
Tricks to make perfume last longer
Finally, I have some tips on how to use perfume to make it smell longer!
Remember, it's better not to overdo it with perfume! Think carefully about where you spray it on your body. The most suitable places are those with good blood circulation. The scent will spread well from these places for a long time. This is the décolleté area, carotid arteries, wrists or elbow joints... On the other hand, avoid hair, because the alcohol in perfume will definitely not benefit it. Also, be careful when combining several aromas. The end result will not necessarily smell delicious.
Choose a perfume that will captivate you and last as long as you need it to. I especially recommend eau de parfum, which will smell intensely and for a long time, and also buy a perfume that will adorn you like a luxurious piece of jewelry. Use it only on special occasions - it will enhance the charm of such moments!
